Carol Faye Sundahl of King City, passed away at the age of 81 on May 2, 2013 after a life-long struggle of illness and chronic back pain.
She lived her entire life in King City where she enjoyed her friends and her Church (Grace Lutheran).
After she married, she was a housewife and homemaker, however in the 1950's she had worked briefly as a secretary at City Hall for the City of King. In the late 60s, she wrote a weekly column for "The King City Rustler" (in those days the paper was called "The Rustler Herald") called "Carol's Candid Comments". Then for many years in the 70's she was a volunteer "Pink Lady" at Mee Memorial Hospital. She was the Parish Secretary in the early days of Grace Lutheran Church for over 20 years, typing the Sunday Bulletin on a "blue Stencil", then running it off every week on an old crank-style ink machine. She was also involved with music ministry and directed the Junior Choir at Grace Lutheran for many years, which she loved. She remained in contact with her King City High School Class of 1949 and helped organize many class reunions.
She is survived by her 2 sons, Gary (Camille) of Paso Robles CA; David of Union City CA; her sister, Claudia Smith Bravo of Burnsville, MN; a brother, Rod Smith of Pine Canyon; grandchildren Jeremy and Corina; and Niki and Sami, her cherished dogs. She is preceded in death by her husband Elton in 2006, her father, Carl Smith in 1962, and her mother Rena Tavernetti Smith in 1990.
Services and Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations to the Humane Society of the United States would be appreciated, it was her favorite charity.
