IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brett
Giles
January 19, 1959 – December 2, 2024
Brett Giles, husband of Sandra Anna Montijo was called to be with our Lord and Savior on December 2, 2024. Brett was born in Sacramento, California on January 19, 1959, graduated from C.K. McClatchy High School in 1977 and attended college in his hometown.
At an early age, Brett developed a love for sports and the outdoors. He was involved in Cub Scouts, with his mother Barbara as his den mother. He also competed in swimming meets. As a teenager, he played high school football and baseball.
While in high school, Brett learned the family concrete construction business working with his father Jack at Unger Construction. He decided to start his own business and after earning his contractor's license, Giles Concrete Construction was born in September 1991.
Brett married his high school sweetheart, Sandra in 1986 and they raised 3 children. He was an avid/seasoned hunter and fisherman. He loved his annual out-of-state elk hunts and could not wait for duck season to begin at the end of the year. And, of course let's not forget deer hunting.
At home it was always--------adventures with local deer, ATV riding and pig hunts with his boys. Brett worked hard and lived for his vacation time with family. There were numerous trips to Hawaii, Mexico, Yellowstone and all across the United States by motorhome; camping and fishing along the way.
With his wife Sandra, Brett also traveled to Costa Rica, South Africa, Canada, China and Israel. One of Brett's greatest joys in life was being baptized in the Jordan River (9/17/2022) while on vacation to the Holy Land.
Brett is survived by his wife, Sandra Montijo Giles; son Scott Brett Giles; daughter Sylvia Moreno (Yami); his sister Robin Winkler (Gary); and many other family and friends who will greatly miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Barbara Giles, his siblings, Scott Giles and Carla Giles; and his beloved son Matthew Montijo Giles.
A Funeral Service, officiated by Reverend Todd Anderson, will be held at Compass Church, 830 Padre Drive, Salinas, CA at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
Immediately following the funeral service, the family will be hosting a celebration of life on-site.
