Obituary

Bobby Hall (July 28, 1930-2014) Bobby held hands again with Pauline and his broken heart was forever healed.

Bob was married to life- long King City resident Anita Pauline ( Houx) Hall for 60 years. Pauline passed away January 2011 and Bob tried to carry on. Most of Bob Hall's life's work was done in service for others as a proud army veteran, later as a King City Police Officer who rose from rookie to acting police chief, and finally as a Sergeant for the Monterey County Deputy Sheriff working from the King City Sub-station. He loved who he served with, who he worked with, and who he worked for. The latter part of great importance as he often said. "I worked for the people of my community guided by the laws I was sworn to protect. "He worked hard to always bring honor to the badge he proudly wore. A man who lived simply, with honesty, integrity, and was gutsy enough to say exactly what he meant at all times. He was not PC. He cut through the bull, enforced the laws with blind duty. He was tough, he was compassionate, he was a policeman's policeman, he was one helluva cop, and yet a quiet man, a family man.

The other part of Bob's life work was his family- it was a masterpiece to him and was his world. Bob had left his birth state Mississippi when he enlisted in the Army during the war in 1946. He wound up stationed at Camp Roberts, California. The transplant from Quitman, Mississippi, an enlisted man, earned an unprecedented appointment to West Point but opted to instead marry Pauline. (In those days cadets could not be married.) Bob and Pauline made King City their home and added three daughters- JeNell , Janette, and Paula.

Bob was the proud son of Ernest and Stella Mae Hall. He was preceded in death by his mother and father in Jackson, Mississippi, brothers Ernest Hall, Jr., Douglas Hall, sister Ernestine Hall McKay, and daughter JeNell Elizabeth Tripp. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Herman (Betty Jean) Hossfeld of Wilmington, North Carolina, daughters Paula Cramer of Rainier, Oregon, Mrs. Janette Harkness of King City, grandchildren Nichole Petit of Salinas, Hilary Cramer and Ashley Hallock of Sacramento, Mr. Brian De Carli of Hollister, and great-grandchildren Colt DeCarli, Eziekiel Hallock, Alysa Petitt, and Hunter Petitt.

Remembrances in Bob's name may be made to Hospice, the Monterey County Deputy Sheriffs Peace Officers Association, American Legion, or the peace officers association of your choice.
