IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Beverly Jean
Frazier Bunte
March 2, 1927 – October 3, 2024
Beverly Jean Frazier Bunte passed away peacefully at 97 on October 3 2024, surrounded by family. Beverly (Bev) was truly a member of the Greatest Generation. Born during the Great Depression, she was a teenager during World War II and part of the post-war boom. Bev was born in southern Monterey County on March 2 1927 and grew up in King City, where she attended school and was a cheerleader. It was there she fell in love with her future husband, star quarterback Loran Bunte Jr.
Loran went on to study at UC Berkeley, and Bev followed him a year later. She enrolled as well but paused her studies to marry Loran in 1948 and start a family. Bev and Loran settled in Salinas, California, where Loran began working for Monterey County, eventually becoming District Engineer. During his tenure, he headed the construction of the Nacimiento and San Antonio dams, which still provides water to the Salinas Valley. Bev supported Loran in this endeavor as a dedicated partner while raising their two sons, Nick (born in 1951) and Barry (born in 1958).
Bev was a passionate gardener, an avid cook, and loved collecting eclectic items to share with family and friends. She lived a full life, marked by resilience, love, and a spirit that could be both gentle and fiercely independent.
Bev was predeceased by her husband, Loran, and her son, Nick. She is survived by her son Barry, daughter-in-law Gail, granddaughter Sami, and grandson Ben, along with her sister-in-law Nancy Bunte Spencer, sister-in-law Pat Bunte, and sister-in-law Jane Bunte de Carvalho.
Bev lived a remarkable life, filled with love from her family. She will dearly missed, but her memory will endure. In her honor, perhaps raise a toast—preferably scotch on the rocks with a splash of water—and remember her well.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a Cure Alzheimer's fund. https://curealz.org/giving/donate/ or your favorite program.
