Bernardo DeLeon Jr., 71 of Mesquite, Dallas, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021.  Bernardo was born August 16, 1949 in Faifurias, Texas to Bernardo and Lucia DeLeon.  At the age of 18 he was drafted into the military and chose to serve as a Marine in the Vietnam war for two years. He was wounded during combat and received various medal including a Purple Heart.

Bernardo was always seen wearing his favorite USMC cap.  He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, great grandpa, brother and uncle. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He always remained in close contact with his family. He was a wonderful storyteller and family historian. You could always count on him to remind you of family history and he will truly be missed.

Bernardo is survived by his wife, Debra Gazaway ; his children, Enrique DeLeon, Ricardo DeLeon and Sarah Lucia Chavez; nine grandchildren, Alan, Saturmino, Katherin, Patrick, Valeria, Joel, Joshua, Nicholas and Alexis; two great grandchildren, Savannah and Samantha; brothers, Eduardo, Jose Luis and Adrian DeLeon; sisters, Juanita, Esperanza, Anna Maria, Esmeralda, Leticia, Irma and Beatrice; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bernardo is preceded in death by his parents Bernardo and Lucia DeLeon; sister, Rebecca Gastelum; and his brother, Jose Angel.

A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021.

A Public Graveside Service with military honors will be held at 11:30 on Saturday, April 17, 2021 in the King City District Cemetery, 1010 Broadway in King City.
