Obituary
Bernadette "Bernie" Louise Silva, 90, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2014. She was a resident of King City for over 70 years. Bernadette was born in Los Angeles, Calif. on August 8, 1924 and moved to King City following her marriage to Lawrence Silva in 1943.
Bernie was a licensed dental hygienist before she was married, and attended St. Mary's Academy and Los Angeles City College . After moving to King City , she began her career as a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family farming business. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and belonged to the St. John's Altar Society, worked tirelessly as a volunteer mom at St. John's School, was a 4-H leader and counted money for the Parish for many years. She enjoyed tole painting, needlework, gardening, playing cards, watching birds and she loved to read.
Bernie is survived by her daughters, Karen (Dick) Fish, Wendy (Tom) Willoughby and her son, Burt (Cheryl) Silva. She will lovingly be missed by grandchildren, Christine (Rodney)Meeks, Melanie Mathis, Brandon Fish, Tiffany (Tim) Haines, Tom Willoughby Jr. (Christina), Blake (Jessika) Willoughby, Tim Silva, Marc (Tiffany) Silva, Amanda (Brian) Agee and Nathan Silva. The youngest members of her family, her great grandchildren, Madison, Caroline & Lindsey Meeks, Adelyn Haines, Tulsa Willoughby, Hannah, Addison & Coleman Silva, and Chase & Claire Agee, brought joy to her life to the very end. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, two brothers, Burton and Joseph Rodier, sister, Joanne Foran and grandson, Wade Willoughby.
The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Rose & Frandy Usi and all their staff at Faithful Home Care in Salinas for the love and support they gave to Bernadette these last ten months. We were blessed to have them care for her.
SERVICE INFORMATION:
A VISITATION is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 9, 2014 at St. John's Catholic Church.
A RECITATION OF THE ROSARY will be held, 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2014 at St. John's Catholic Church.
A FUNERAL MASS will be held, 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 10, 2014 at St. John's Catholic Church
