Obituary

Mrs. Benita Perez passed away, peacefully, at her home in King City, California on Friday Morning, August 5th, 2022 - she was 76 years old. Benita was born in Cameron County, Texas on April 9, 1946 - she fell in love with Central Coast California after accompanying her father on one of his work trips from Texas when she was a young lady and ultimately decided to move to California, where she also met her soon to be husband, Steve Perez - they were married in 1974 and were married for 48 years. Benita loved to garden and she loved animals, also with a great movie and cooking delicious meals for the family - she made the best homemade flour tortillas.

Benita enjoyed listening to music while working around the house and would sing along to her favorite classic country songs - her voice was beautiful. She was also an avid reader of all sorts of topics; however, the Bible was her most likely selection. She absolutely loved a good day trip to Monterey for dinner on the water of Cannery Row or a nice place on the Wharf, followed by checking out all the shops and she especially liked the antique stores. Benita worked for King City High School as a Teacher's Assistant in the C-Wing of King City High School for about 20 years before retiring in 2000. Benita is survived by Steve Perez, along with her 2 sons, Abram B. Perez and Eduardo A. Perez - along by several brothers and sisters still living in Texas and some in California as well.

The family has decided on a private service; however, if you are considering a donation, Benita would have wanted you to consider any of the following organizations: the First Baptist Church on King Street in King City or the SPCA on Salinas Monterey Highway in Salinas.
