Barbara Elizabeth McGreal, 62, of Pacific Grove, California, passed away May 6, 2013, due to complications after hip-replacement surgery.
SERVICE INFORMATION:
A private service in her remembrance will be held on June 1 in Monterey, California, for close friends and loved ones.
She was born in Pacific Grove where she lived out all 62 years of her life.
Barbara was the fourth of eight children. She was a mother, a wife, a sister, a best friend and moral support to many. Above all things, her greatest calling and title was Grandma. She was a Grandma to seven grandchildren who thought the world of her, and for whom she spent many hours planning and playing the most spectacular games. Scavenger hunts, glow stick dance parties, picnics, and storytelling are just a few of the standard events when she would visit. She had regular phone conversations with the kids and had developed a special close bond with each and every one of them.
Barbara lived a life of service. All those who knew Barbara knew that they could count on her. She was always there to help, to be a friend, to offer advice, or just to listen, she was there. She saved and cared for dozens of animals over the years. She helped those in need without judgment. She also happily helped look after and care for her parents in their elder years. Barbara loved unconditionally. She was and IS a light in the heart of many. She is deeply missed, but we also know she was called home to the God, who gave her life.
Barbara is survived by her husband Timothy, her two daughters Corissa Temple and Rebecca Graham, and seven grandchildren: Cheyeanne, Harper, Elias, Arri, Marlee, Ezra, and Jonah. She is survived by sisters Kathleen Heidrick, Carolyn Cain, and Patricia Cain and brothers Daniel, Donald, James, and Joseph Cain. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Klement and Gloria Cain.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations toward a college-education fund that Barbara had set up for her grandchildren. If you would like to contribute, you are welcome to email her daughter Rebecca for details: heybecka@gmail.com. Also appreciated are any stories or warm memories you would like to write and share about how Barbara has touched your life. Keeping her memory alive and with us is a priceless gift at this time.
