Augusta "Gussie" Jeanette Gill passed away on Tuesday, July 1, at the age of 89. Gussie was born in Oxnard, CA, the daughter of Jean and Marie Arnal who immigrated to the United States from southern France in the early 1900's.
In her very early years, she spoke mostly only French, but eventually perfected English at a remarkably young age. She attended Oxnard Union High School along with her eventual husband of 59 years, Albert "Jack" Gill.
Gussie, Jack, and their three children moved from Oxnard to King City, CA in the early 1950's to pursue farming opportunities in the Salinas Valley. In 1976, Gussie and Jack moved to Paso Robles California, where they spent their remaining years.
Gussie's hobbies were shopping, decorating, cooking, and following her beloved Los Angeles Dodgers.
Gussie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack and her son, Johnny. Gussie is survived by her 2 children: Melinda Gill Stewart and her husband Tim of Paso Robles, CA and Jeannine Mansfield and her husband, Robert of Keller, TX. In addition she has 6 grandchildren: Aaron, Nathan, Francis, Jared, Matthew, and Joseph as well as 5 great grandchildren. Gussie has one younger sister, Claudette Lasley of Tubac, AZ.
FUNERAL SERVICES:
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 7, 2014 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Paso Robles.
Interment will follow at Paso Robles District Cemetery.
