Amanda Mejia Celaya, 91 of King City passed away September 12, 2012 in San Diego, Calif. after a brief illness.
SERVICE INFORMATION:
VISITATION is scheduled 6pm to 7pm, Friday, September 21, 2012.
A ROSARY Service will be held, 7pm, Friday, September 21, 2012.
FUNERAL MASS will be held, 1pm, Saturday, September 22, 2012.
All Services will be held at St. John's Catholic Church, 504 N. Third St., King City, Calif.
Amanda Celaya was born January 15, 1921 in El Playon, Sinaloa, Mexico.
In 1940 she married a fisherman, Jose R. Mejia. Mrs. Celaya lived in El Playon with her husband until his death in 1942. At that time she and her daughter moved to Mexicali.
In 1960 they moved to the United States in search of a better life. She lived in San Jose and eventually settled in King City, Calif. in 1982 and has lived here ever since.
Mrs. Celaya enjoyed cooking, gardening, listening to music, spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Celaya is survived by her daughter, Maria Zuniga; grandchildren, Susie (Poste) Rosales, Amanda (Trinidad) Beltran; great grandchildren, Yesenia Rosales, Yvette (Ricardo) Villavicencio, Yessica Rosales, Vicente Beltran, Guillermo Beltran, Daniel Beltran and 3 great-great grandchildren.
