IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Albert
Banuelos
August 16, 1932 – June 9, 2023
Albert Banuelos (90) of Red Bluff, California, passed away on June 9, 2023 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Red Bluff, California.
Albert fought many battles against an array of bodily-induced discomforts. Despite spending much of his recent years in pain and visiting his loyal doctor in Red Bluff, he never gave up. Albert, commonly known as both Al and Bert by all, was born to Jesus and Maria Banuelos on August 16, 1932 in King City, California. He was a talented athlete who loved playing sports with his brother Eddie and received a sports scholarship to San Jose State University until drafted for the Korean War. After the war ended, he lived and worked for a brief period in Monterey County before he eventually worked as a Golf Course Superintendent at Wilcox Oaks Golf Course in Red Bluff California. After 9 years, which included fighting off the famous invasion of a massive number of skunks, he became the Golf Course Superintendent of Tucker Oaks Golf Course in Anderson, California. He eventually took over all operations of the course. During his 53-year tenure there in conjunction with his loyal assistant Michael Ervin, and his hard-working wife-Carleen-, they proudly created one of the most beautiful and maintained 9-hole golf courses in Northern California. Among the golfers, his loyal working staff, his golf pros Clark Good, Chuck Sherman, Mike Blum, Paul Bullock and Bill Dewilt. Albert was known as one of the most generous persons one could meet. He treated all people fairly and always gave everyone a chance, even the SF Giants. Albert significantly impacted the golfing community in Anderson, Red Bluff and Redding, and his honesty will be truly missed.
Albert is survived by his wife Carleen of 56 years and his three children Gary, Cindy, and Lisa. He was predeceased by his parents, Jesus and Maria, and his brothers Eddie, Rudy, and his two sisters Rebecca and Eleanor.
Albert's family will host a quiet burial service on Saturday July 1, 2023, at 10:30 am, The service will be at King City Cemetery in King City, California. A reception will follow at 12:00 Cork Plow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Dignity Health Foundation, to benefit the Mercy Foundation North location, for their above and beyond efforts to preserve and protect Albert-their staff was super!
