Cecile A. Lesnini

Cecile Lesnini died peacefully at home on Sunday, January 27. Throughout most of her 96 years, she faced life with enthusiasm, optimism and humor.

A Graveside inurnment is will be held, 2 p.m., Friday, March 22, 2013 at King City District Cemetery.

Cecile is the last of the seven Lesnini siblings born at home on a dairy ranch in Harmony, California. They moved with their parents to King City in 1919. She is survived by her niece, Celia Bakke; her nephew, David Lesnini; and two great nephews, Erik and Karl Bakke, and their families.

Cecile grew up in King City. After graduating from King City High School, she joined her eldest sister in San Francisco, where she went to cosmetology school. On graduation, she worked in the salon of Ida Merrill, who became a life-long friend. Later she was a sales person at I. Magnin specialty department store, and still later, joined her sister in operating a gift shop.

Cecile returned to King City in the 1950s. She managed the Lesnini/Nicola ranch, golfed at the city links, and socialized with a group of close friends. For most of the time she was content to keep her house in the spotless Swiss tradition and tend her garden. But occasionally she liked to step out. For a number of years she would join Ida for an outing in San Francisco. There, they, elegantly dressed, toured the noted restaurants of the day.

For those interested in making a memorial gift, the family suggests a donation to Central Coast VNA & Hospice, P.O. Box 2480, Monterey, CA, 93942 (www.ccvna.com).
